As we take on a year-round programme at Aviva Studios, we are developing corporate relationships and a busy and eclectic Commercial Events plan. This is an exciting opportunity to work with us to support these new programmes of work, delivering unique commercial events and corporate activity in a world class performance space.
The Production Manager will oversee the delivery of the physical production of a variety of projects across Factory International’s programs of work with a particular focus on our commercial and corporate events, supporting artistic projects and events in the public realm as required.
The Production Manager (Commercial) will ensure the effective delivery of all technical, production and logistical aspects of each Commercial Events project - safely, to schedule, within budget and to the highest possible technical standards.
This is a client facing role, supporting commercial pitches and proposals.
The key responsibilities for the Production Manager (Commercial) include;
- Working closely with the Commercial Events team, liaise with clients, production partners and agencies to fully advance events, collating all relevant information and documents such as production schedules, plans, rigging plots, and staffing requirements and distributing this information to the in-house Technical Team and Event Managers.
- Work with internal Factory International departments, external suppliers, and clients to ensure consistent and high-quality levels of service to all clients developing and fostering relationships to ensure repeat business.
- Work closely with Event Managers to ensure successful delivery of each event, communicating costs, schedule and staffing updates accurately and on time.
- Be the venue representative on production days, load-ins, and event days, leading teams and overseeing production related work taking place. (Due to the nature of the events that we deliver, early morning, late night, and weekend working will be required.)
- Examine the booking diary with the Commercial Event and Scheduling Teams to ensure that proposed events work within the schedule of operation of the wider organization. Contribute to the planning and delivery of venue format changes.
- Undertaking professional and timely communications with partners including taking concise and accurate briefs and offering creative and technical input, maximising opportunities for added value to events and ensuring our partners wish to return to us time and again.
- Effectively monitoring and forecasting event budgets, ensuring that events are delivered to requirements, within allocated budget.
- Sell our Technical services to incoming clients. Ensuring that potential variances and opportunities are promptly identified and addressed appropriately, escalating issues or concerns as appropriate.
- Establishing production schedules for the project and communicating the content of those schedules effectively to relevant parties within a timeframe agreed with the Event Manager
- Attending all meetings, site visits, installation, de-installation, including overseeing show maintenance where appropriate.
- Establishing a good working relationship with the key departments within Factory International.
- Ensuring that all production elements are delivered to the highest Health and Safety standards and within all current legislation. Creating risk assessments, method statements, and floor plans as required.

The person specification for the Production Manager (Commercial) are;
ESSENTIAL
- Extensive experience in production management in commercial or corporate events setting. Candidates with experience in one or more artform, e.g. Theatre, Large Scale Visual Arts, Immersive Productions, will also be considered.
- Up to date knowledge of technical production (e.g., lighting, sound, video, rigging, set construction, wardrobe etc), or relevant and proven knowledge from equivalent fields.
- Strong organisational and planning skills with proven experience of communicating technical requirements to production colleagues and other non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience developing and working to budgets.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation skills with an understanding of the needs of delivering live events for third party partners.
- Experience of working with and leading teams, remaining calm under pressure.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, guidance and practical implementation
- Excellent software literacy and fluency with tools such as Microsoft Excel, Monday.com etc.
- Experience working with CAD software like AutoCAD, Vectorworks, etc, including reading and adjusting plans.
- Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level of the organisation with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Willing to undertake relevant statutory checks e.g. DBS (Factory International can support with processing and payment)
DESIRABLE
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
- NEBOSH qualification.
- Advanced CAD experience with the ability to create plans.
- IPAF, PASMA, telehandler and forks accreditation, etc.
- 3 day rigging for the events industry qualification.
- Enthusiasm for training, mentoring and support of emerging talent
