Please not this is a part-time role at 24 hours per week (equivalent to 3 days)
The Technical Coordinators are an integral part of the wider Factory International technical team and work closely with the technical department leads to help facilitate the operational requirements of productions.
An office-based role suiting anyone with experience in coordination or administration, the coordinators work across a multitude of genres, including theatre, dance, music, commercial hires, community events, and can work across multiple productions at any given time.
The coordinators assist with training and development for the in-house technical teams and casual staff. They work across productions at AVIVA Studios in Manchester, but also at Manchester International Festival (MIF), a biennial arts festival (operated by Factory International) at multiple venues across Greater Manchester and AVIVA Studios.
The coordinators also assist Factory International's training provider, Factory Academy, to enable new work opportunities for their recent graduates by hosting sessions & conducting interviews.
The coordinators can develop themselves in areas which interest them as part of our commitment to continuous professional development.
The key responsibilities for the Technical Coordinator include;
- Act as first line point of contact for the Technical Department for both internal & external enquiries and in liaison with the Technical Heads of Departments
- Administratively support in-house productions, touring, events and visiting company work, whilst developing and maintaining good working relationships with external suppliers
- Admin lead the co-ordination of our off-site store units including tracking show installs and removals, arranging plant hire, and assisting the stores team with day-to-day planning
- Assist with the production and interpretation of technical plans and paperwork where needed
- Administratively support the Technical Manager and other Technical Heads of Departments
- Make use of our staffing software platform to book and report on the deployment of our casual technicians, agency crew and freelancers.
- Assist with accreditation processes for visiting companies, crew, and suppliers.
- Create and issue freelance / supplier contracts, check right to work documentation, create and issue purchase orders, onboard and induct new starters.
The person specification for the Technical Coordinator are;
ESSENTIAL
- Experience of working in an administrative role or working in a technical department within any arts, theatre or music environment
- Experience liaising with internal and external customers and suppliers
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent administrative, planning and organisational skills. Ability to manage workload, multitask and prioritise appropriately. Can work autonomously to agreed deadlines
- Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level of the organisation with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds
DESIRABLE
- Experience of working in technical theatre/music/events/visual arts
- Experience of working as a Production Assistant, Coordinator or Administrator
- Broad knowledge of technical systems and equipment
- Payroll and timesheet administration
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or Vectorworks
- Knowledge of producing theatre practice
- Enthusiasm for training, mentoring and support of emerging talent
