The Video Technician will ensure the physical production of all Factory International (FI) concerts, artworks, productions, conferences and other live events are delivered and maintained to the highest standard in each of our flexible performance spaces. This includes FI produced and co-produced work, in addition to third-party created visiting performances and gigs, commercial conferences and corporate events. At Aviva Studios and during the International Festival we deliver live performances at all scales from small foyer events though to whole building takeovers.
We are looking for expertise from all artforms; live music, visual and performing arts, theatre, corporate events and beyond. The Video Technician will support the Video team and other Factory International teams to ensure that all of our spaces, events and shows are delivered to an exceptional standard and are accessible to everyone.

The key responsibilities for the Video Technician include;
- To prep, rig, operate, and de-rig video equipment for a wide variety of live, virtual, and hybrid productions and events in our performance spaces and across the wider building
- Where required, to assist in video design and programming for in-house productions and events
- Become familiar with the venue’s technical equipment and infrastructure including video equipment, signal distribution, and control networks
- Play an active role in the planning of future shows and events in conjunction with the Video team and wider technical team
- Report faults or issues on video equipment and control systems in a timely manner to department heads or the technical manager and carry out first line maintenance when appropriate
- Work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are delivered as required
- Attend production meetings, rehearsals and technical rehearsals as required. Liaise with visiting technical departments, ensuring their requirements are met and they are compliant with Factory policies
- Working on a rota system which will require some evening, overnight and weekend working. Lead shifts when required. Provide advice to all other users of the venue regarding the safe and proper use of venue video equipment. Deliver all aspects of the venue’s video services to the highest standard
- In conjunction with other technical team members, plan and deliver an effective program of maintenance (inc. Planned Preventative Maintenance), housekeeping, stock control and testing for all appliances and video related equipment in the building
The person specification for the Video Technician are;
ESSENTIAL
- A proactive, flexible and collaborative approach to working
- Extensive practical experience of technical video in one or more art forms (conferencing, live music, theatre, performance art, etc), preferably in a producing environment
- Experience of installing, programming, and operating video equipment, networks and systems
- Experience of working with projectors, including deployment and rigging, system control and an understanding of suitable signal paths over distance
- Experience of the operation of playback software for live events, such as Qlab, Vmix, Resolume, Isadora
- Familiarity with various industry terminology, techniques and procedures
- Ability to work well under pressure and to prioritise competing workload demands
- Knowledge of technical drawing programs such as AutoCAD or Vectorworks
- Ability to interpret information from tech riders, stage plans and show advance documents
- Comfortable working at height
- Knowledge of Health & Safety practice and procedures including Risk Assessments
- Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level of the organisation with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds
DESIRABLE
- IPAF, PASMA, MEWP training
- Qlab programming and operation
- Experience with PTZ camera and studio camera setup and usage, including use of Vmix software and Blackmagic hardware for vision mixing of live event cameras
- Experience of working in a venue or touring capacity
- Experience of Co-production/collaboration with a variety of partners and stakeholders
- Experience working on projects using AR, VR and other immersive technologies
- Experience of vision mixing systems, LED Wall and projection blending
- Working knowledge of SMPTE-2110 and other transport standards
- Video equipment maintenance and repair training
- Emergency First Aid at Work qualification or similar
- Appropriate qualification in technical theatre from an accredited college, university, ABTT or industry relevant training courses
- Enthusiasm for training, mentoring and support of emerging talent
