Factory International are looking to engage a Freelance Local Ambassador, who will support our work connecting with residents in our local neighbourhoods of Deansgate / Castlefield and St John’s.
This paid opportunity is a role that will help us to:
- communicate effectively with residents and organisations in our immediate vicinity about the exciting shows, events and opportunities we have going during MIF25 and our year-round programme
- listen to our neighbours’ creative ideas, hopes for the area and future relationship with Factory International.
We are ideally looking for someone living near Aviva Studios to help us develop the dialogue between Factory International and residents.

CONTRACT
This part-time freelance contract will run from April to mid-August 2025 with flexible working hours. You will need to be available for approximately a half-day per week over this period and have generally good availability during the 18 days of MIF25 (3rd – 21st July). The fee will be approximately £2000.

- is passionate about the difference arts and culture can make in their community
- has strong links to their community and a good knowledge of their local area
- has strong networking and communication skills
- takes a strategic approach to relationship management and advocacy
- places high value on the importance of inclusion and can create links with people from various cultures and backgrounds
- has strong problem-solving skills
- has a good ability to interpret and relay information to various audiences
- Can work independently but also work well as part of a team
About the role
The Freelance Local Ambassador will:
- build relationships with individuals, organisations and communities in your local area, in person and online
- co-host forums in your area so people from your community can keep up to date with what’s happening at Factory International and MIF25
- support residents' meetings and discussions to feedback to the wider organisation and advocate for the civic duty of Factory International
- link in with local council neighbourhood teams, to feed into local initiatives and support information flow during MIF25 and beyond
- exchange knowledge about your community, highlighting any issues affecting people so we better understand what our local community’s assets and needs, effective interventions and wider programming they might be interested in
- Work with the Factory International Engagement team to recommend strategies to the wider organisation on how we can develop programmes relevant to local residents
- work with Factory International Visitor Experience team to ensure that we are providing the best possible welcome for local residents
